Conservation Easement Process
The key steps in processing an easement to be held by the Long Green Lant Trust, Inc. include:
Landownder submits a non-binding completed application to LGLT
Field visit - LGLT staff meet with landowner for a preliminary discussion of landowner’s objectives. Conservation features, structures, land use of property are photographed.
Staff help to identify the best preservation program for the landowner.
LGLT staff completes background research (i.e. zoning, additional conservation information.)
Easement proposal is submitted to LGLT board for approval.
Monitoring of easements
Generally every two years, an LGLT and/or co-sponsor representative will contact the landowner to schedule a site visit to determine if the terms of the easement are being met. Other visits will occur on an as needed basis.
